About KC

I can assure clients that they will be extremely satisfied with my focus and professionalism throughout the entire process of buying or selling a property. I excel in communicating thoroughly with my clients and those involved in the process. I am an organized hard worker and I love finding the right property for my clients, as well as successfully selling my client’s properties. Smooth transactions are what I strive to achieve with each client and each agent. I have consistently been one of the top producers in both Sonoma and Napa Valley. I am consistently awarded the International President’s Premier and the International President’s Elite Award for Coldwell Banker which goes to the top 1-2% of all agents internationally. I have been a full-time real estate agent for over 16 years. I have received my GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute) and I am a member of both Napa and Sonoma’s Realtor Associations. I attribute my success in real estate to excelling in client customer service and having exceptional relationships with other agents and professionals in the industry. My positive attitude has translated into many successful transactions.

KC’s Background and Education:

I grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois and graduated from the Sacred Heart School in Lake Forest, Woodlands Academy. I went to St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and graduated with a degree in English literature with an Elementary school Teaching Certificate. After college, I moved to San Francisco and was hired to be a 6th, 7th and 8th grade teacher at St. Matthews Catholic School in San Mateo. I lived in San Francisco and also went to University of San Francisco for a Master’s degree in teaching secondary Science. After receiving my Masters, I taught at Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco. I loved teaching at the all-girls high school and I also coached soccer and was Director of the Community Service program. Then, I met my husband Tom Garrett, who was working at the Wine Spectator as a writer and tasting coordinator in SF. After 5 years of teaching, I transitioned into a new job as a sales manager, selling Education software for the Learning Company, Broderbund, & Mattel for 5 years. It was an incredible change and I really enjoyed it until I met Tom and the industry completely changed to being online which led me to change careers into real estate.
And that was when I decided to get my CA Real Estate License and become a real estate agent in Sonoma & Napa. Tom & I were living in Santa Rosa and I started working for Brian Connell at Frank Howard Allen Realtors in 2004. I am thrilled that I made the decision to become a real estate agent. This is a life-long career for me and I love working every day! Tom & I have lived in St. Helena in Napa since 2005. We are very fortunate to live right in town with a lot of great neighborhood friends and we are surrounded by an exceptional and vibrant community.
Tom’s family has a fantastic vineyard called Detert Family Vineyards and a house in Oakville where we love spending time with family & friends. Tom is the winemaker and co-owner of the Detert Family Vineyards wine brand. They make an incredible Cabernet Franc and great Cabernet too. Tom is also a partner and winemaker for Dakota Shy wines which is an exceptional Cabernet brand and winery located off the Silverado Trail near Rutherford in Napa Valley. Tom is a great resource, when I have buyers looking to buy vineyards or wineries with specific questions regarding vineyards or winemaking or general questions about a variety of wineries & the wine industry. I have been very successful helping clients buy vineyards, wineries and estate properties in Napa and Sonoma.

Interests and Hobbies:

My parent’s have a home in Park City, Utah and St. Barths in the Caribbean and we all love to ski, hike, bike, snorkel, play tennis, travel, barbeque, cook, eat, drink good wine and enjoying life every day to its fullest. Tom and I have 3 boys who attend or have attended the St. Helena Montessori School and St. Helena High School. Our oldest son has just been accepted to Colorado College where he plans to attend in fall 2021! Our boys and family are all very active in sports, camping and the outdoors. I think it is important to have a balance in your life to consistently work hard, but carve out time to play and enjoy life. I pride myself in being able to juggle a lot because I am very organized and stay up late in order to get everything done. I like to say YES and have a very positive attitude. I am also a member of the Junior League of Napa Sonoma, now as a sustainer, but I still love to support JLNS and other projects like Children’s Museum of Sonoma County and the Sonoma County Medical Alliance Association that help support Foster Children. I have served on the Parent’s Guild as a Room Parent for St. Helena Montessori School, as well as co-chaired the school’s annual auction. I am a board member for the St. Helena Chamber of Commerce and a member of the St. Helena Jr. Women’s Club. I am an active member of the St. Helena Catholic Church and support the community as much as possible. Every year both Coldwell Banker and I individually donate money to several different charities and non-profits that we feel are important. If you have a particular charity you would like for me to support, please let me know and I would be happy to donate money to support your cause.
We are members of Meadowood Club which is a relaxing and beautiful place to unwind and play with our boys and visit with friends at the end of the day and on weekends. We are also members and I am a board member of the new Lawn Club – a fantastic new Tennis Club in St. Helena with Har Tru Clay Courts and soon a great deck & pavilion for entertaining and watching great tennis. We live in a dynamic and beautiful place surrounded by amazing people. And I hope that I can help my clients and friends buy and sell properties as needed with my professional background and experience. Please let me know if you have questions or would like advice! I look forward to talking to you soon! Sincerely, KC Garrett
